Anyone's Game, tournament 5 recap

February 17, 2023

From February through December 2022, we ran Anyone's Game on Twitter↗! Users of the site were allowed a whole week to vote on each contest.

Some of the matches have art from Solunite↗, included below! I asked him specifically for art that took about 45 minutes per image, and I think they turned out great! I also got laid off early through this run, so I was unable to commission him for the rest of the matches.

Each of the ℹ️ buttons below links to the Wikipedia article on the contest in question.

Here's a summary of tournament 5, held over ten months on Twitter. But first:

Ground rules

Contestants may use any reasonable means available to accomplish the goal, but any of the following will result in disqualification, except when required by the contest:

  • Use of outside help.
  • Coercion or threatening bystanders or faceless participants.
  • Escalating in violence beyond the level required by the contest rules.
  • Cheating or otherwise circumventing the goal of the contest by using objects or gadgets.

Recently, the print-on-demand service we use for our games, the Game Crafter, has raised their prices across the board. This has forced us to raise our own prices in turn, and we're taking a smaller cut just to try to keep prices down.
